See, your dreams are the reason why your life is worth living. Because reality is model-dependent, the meaning of life is what you choose it to be. In fact, the only place you can find the meaning of your life is right between your ears. 

But today- like it has always been the case, people are increasingly forgoing their dreams in favor of traditional career options. Working at jobs they absolutely hate, for instance. Or procrastinating their entire lives by not giving their dreams a deadline (PLEASE NOTE THIS!). But there's something about today that has not always been the case. Guess what it is. Your answer might be technology. That's a good answer. Another good answer would be individual freedom and security. Now those two are important words- freedom and security. I admit that it is not the case everywhere. But at least it is the case for you. Or otherwise you wouldn't be reading this, right? 

See, individual security is at an all-time high (I'm not talking about job security, here). I can totally understand you if you think otherwise. And that's because the media does not make it so obvious; it instead keeps bombarding you with only the doom and gloom which is probably at least less than any other time in history. This does not mean that we live in a perfect world yet. But surely, you can do more than any of your ancestors because you simply have way more options in today's Information Age. In fact, the top three elements that boost motivation in the workplace themselves have nothing to do with reward and punishment or any other traditional measure adopted in society. Those three elements are: Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose.

So with all that said, what are you waiting for? In effect, it might be easier for you to build a life around your interests than to find a job that matches them. In any case, your dreams are important. And you surely don't want to spoil them by investing in a career that fails to fulfill those dreams. There are already many who have destroyed their dreams, and many who are destroying theirs still. At least you want to be different.
